Recreational pot is now legal in Oregon and Washington states and it is quite astounding to see how this industry has taken hold in these states.

We arrived in Washington State, now almost completely diagonally across the USA from south Florida. Our new base camp for a week is Gig Harbor, the name of a bay off Puget Sound and also a town on its shore. The historic waterfront which dates back to the late 1800's is now home to many wharfs and marinas, boutique shops and dining. Surrounding areas have gentrified with upscale shopping and housing communities due to its proximity to Tacoma, just 13 miles across Puget Sound on the famous Narrows Bridge. Remember "Galloping Gertie" the suspension bridge that collapsed in 1940 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyiYjthZimM. About 30 miles north is Bremerton, famous for its Navy Yards and where you catch the Washington State Ferry System over to Seattle. The aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk was there when we passed by. In Bremerton there was a Trawler Boat Show. While in Gig Harbor there was a display of classic wooden boats at the docks of a popular restaurant and marina, Tides Tavern. Who doesn't love these classic wooden beauties? Just over the Narrows Bridge on the mainland southeast of Seattle is Kent, WA, where we met up with the Boni-Pratt family. Jason is Bob Pratt's son and married to Kristine (Boni). They have two amazing children, Ashton and Senna. We had a fun visit with great food and stories while Gaylord and the kids played. During the week we took our first trip into Seattle. First stop was a premium cannabis emporium called Diego Pellicer. Mike insisted Ron join him as this was Ron's first time visiting an American pot store. We were lucky to have Jake Dimmock as our budtender. He's quite a character, very knowledgeable and recently named BUDTENDER OF THE MONTH by Northwest Leaf Magazine where they featured him in a two page spread. Recreational pot is now legal in Oregon and Washington states and it is quite astounding to see how this industry has taken hold in these states. After Mike's trip to "cannabis heaven" we toured the famous Seattle waterfront Pikes Place Market. This is where they do the fish toss in the fish market and a great place to satisfy having the munchies. LOL! Street performers entertain the throngs of people at this popular destination. Stay tuned as we head further north near the Canadian border to Anacortes, WA with a stop in Poulsbo for a week. To get to Anacortes, we'll be boarding a ferry in Pt. Townsend with our coach towing the Jeep (about 54' in length). That is sure to be an interesting experience.

Great photos of Gig Harbor and of those wooden boats. What a lovely area ! Good to see Pike Place Market is still in business, after repeated threats every few years to tear it down. That has to be the most tourist-focused Starbucks of all time! Hope it's a VERY big ferry to Anacortes.

Love traveling armchair with you. Haven't been to Pike's in 20+ years but it still looks fabulous. Take care.
