After a great month in Palm Springs we resumed our trip heading up the California coast and points north. We decided to revisit our cliff-top perch overlooking Malibu Beach. This RV Park will be on our 'Best Of' for sure! Sunrise and sunsets are spectacular as well as our 360 degree view from our site.
Being back in Malibu gave us easy access to Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Santa Monica and all that La La Land has to offer. So off we go to CBS Studios for a live taping of The Price is Right in the Bob Barker Studio! It was quite an ordeal but worth the experience. Our taping of the show will air May 11th, when you will all be able to see our exciting time!
Next door to CBS Studio city is the historic Original Farmers Market (since 1934) <farmersmarketla.com>. Adjacent to the Farmers Market is The Grove which you take a Trolley to/from. We had lunch at The Gumbo Pot on Fat Tuesday... soft shell crab poor boy!
Another day we visited The Griffith Observatory. It was started as one man's vision for inspiring people through astronomy. Mr. Griffith gave the park to Los Angeles in 1896 and left money in his will in 1919 to build the Observatory and Greek Theater. We were amazed by the live show "Centered in The Universe" at the Planetarium. Many visit Griffith Park for its unparalleled view of the Los Angeles basin and the Hollywood Sign.
Of course being "foodies" we sampled some of the great gastronomy in the Malibu area. Up Malibu Canyon is the critically acclaimed historic Saddle Peak Canyon Lodge located under the fabled Saddle Peak in the Santa Monica mountains. We had amazing portobello fries, a trio of wild game sausages and four cheese mac & cheese gratin at the bar during happy hour! We also revisited a favorite celebrity hang out, OL LO, and enjoyed the number one rated Malibu Seafood spot located just below our 'perch'.
