Mexican Riviera cruise - ruby princess

After almost 6 months in Challenger One aka "The Tin Can", we took a break and went on a 7 day Mexican Riviera Cruise aboard the Ruby Princess to celebrate the 4th anniversary of our Legal Marriage.  Our coach went in for some warranty service and upgrades while Gaylord went to Camp Bow Wow.  We stayed at the Pacific Inn in Seal Beach (a beach town with a pier, marina, and a cool main street with many great places to eat!) on Friday before boarding Saturday morning. The port was very large and quite amazing. Docked near by was the battleship Iowa.
We were two days at sea before arriving at our first stop. Thank you to our dear friends and travel agent (Cruise Planners) Eleanore & Lew who treated us to a Deluxe Balcony Champagne Breakfast the morning of our second day at sea. It was very decadent and delicious.
We spent quality time at sea lounging in The Sanctuary which was a secluded and upscale section of the ship. Lots of attentive pampering culminating with afternoon high tea served daily.
Two nice days at Sea before arriving at Puerto Vallarta where we went on an ATV expedition through a Tequila Ranch high in the Jalesco mountains.  It was a great adventure and lots of fun. The trip up the mountain was a hair-raising ride in a bus that had no shocks, muffler or windows. Once there, we went through orientation, then it was off to the numerous trails that meandered through the hills and valleys. Ron was a maniac and tore through the streams with abandon. Mike followed at a more reasonable pace, not wanting to get all dirty. LOL
We met some fun people on board, gay and straight. There was a LGBT happy hour every day where we would gather and mingle with 'PLU's'. We also met two great couples (Norman & Hilda, Tom & JoAnna) who met up with us for trips ashore, cocktails and a great final dinner together in the Crown Grill restaurant. Lots of laughs and good times! Mazatlan and Cabo were very nice ports of call where we enjoyed some sightseeing and shopping. Cabo, specially, was very picturesque.
We also attended a special cocktail reception for frequent cruisers where we met Captain Marco Fortezze. Love a man in uniform!
